It is a place that nurtures and cares for every individual allowing them time to wonder and explore new learning in safety.

It is a place that strives to ensure all individuals not only meet but can exceed their academic potential and can practise essential life skills needed in society today and in the future.

It is a place, a community, I feel privileged to lead.

So welcome to our place, our community, South Ascot Village School.

Primary Site

South Ascot Village School is a community primary school in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

South Ascot Village School is set in large semi rural site in the centre of Ascot. The stunningly beautiful grounds comprise of a large playing field, woodland and playground. The primary school site and the foundation stage site have extensive outdoor play equipment which offers challenge to children and the chance to take risks in safety. Competitive sports are encouraged and this amazing outdoor space provides the facilities for this to take place.

The school has been extensively refurbished over the years. It now has a modern contemporary main school entrance which is totally accessible to parents and the community. The reception holds a plethora of information about the school and signposts parents to many other services. New classrooms have been added to both sites to accommodate the numbers of children applying to our school.

The school can accommodate up to 240 children in years FS2( Reception Class) – Yr6. The nursery class (FS1) can accommodate 104 part time places to children aged 3 – 4 years old. Children who attend the nursery class move on to many primary schools.

Breakfast Club is available to all children and Lunch Club is available for all nursery children. These services are provided as an extension to the school day and do incur a cost to parents .

The families and the local community are very supportive of the school, parents and carers are encouraged to become involved in all aspects of school life.

The schools governing body comprises of many parents both past and present and the current PTA is a vibrant group of parents very keen to raise funds for the school and develop voluntary after school clubs.

Schools Council enable children to have a voice and be actively involved in leading school development. The School House System promotes a sense of belonging in school and also encourages children to gain rewards such as non uniform days by winning house points.

The Foundation Stage Unit was purpose built in the 90’s and extended in 2007.

We offer seamless education for young children from the age of three through

to six in this setting. An “Outstanding” Ofsted Judgement for the Foundation

Stage was given in 2010.

Set in stunning grounds with a magnificent child centred outdoor learning

environment and a stimulating indoor provision comprising of high quality resources and the latest technology, the unit offers part time places to children aged 3 & 4.

Our staff are highly qualified and experienced practitioners in the early years and we currently have a pupil/staff ratio of 1:8.

We particularly foster, as advocated by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, the prime areas of learning which are paramount and important throughout the child’s whole learning journey. Initially, there is a big emphasis on children’s communication and language development, physical development and personal, social and emotional development, as well as concentrating on the other areas of learning. We orchestrate the environment to facilitate a community of enquiry.

All children are recognised as individuals and treated according to their needs. We understand that children learn in a holistic way and not in neat, tidy boxes. Children are given ample opportunities to act in an autonomous way and encouraged to take a lead in their own learning.  We trust in children’s judgements and actively tune into their passions and interests using them as a vehicle for learning.

Adults are dynamic and creative in their approaches to delivering the curriculum and strive to offer learning opportunities in meaningful ways that are designed to promote the love of learning!

We are a feeder school to all primary schools in the Ascot and surrounding areas.

Children are registered at 2 years old and can be admitted after their 3rd
