Welcome back to the second half of the Summer Term! We hope you had a fantastic break, filled with relaxation, fun and plenty of sunshine!
Next week, there will be a few changes to the timetable, so please make sure you have read the following:-
Monday 8th June
There are no changes to the timetable. Children should attend school as normal.
Tuesday 9th June
Please ensure children come to school wearing their PE kit and suitable trainers. Swimming lessons will also begin today, so children will need to bring their swimming costume/trunks, towel and goggles.
Wednesday 10th June
Sports Day will take place today. Children should come to school in their PE kit, including a T-shirt in their house colour. Please note that there will be no Forest School or PE lesson due to Sports Day.
Thursday 11th June
This day has been set aside as a reserve Sports Day in case poor weather prevents the event from taking place on Wednesday. If Sports Day goes ahead as planned on Wednesday, children should wear their normal school uniform on Thursday.
Friday 12th June
There will no longer be a PE lesson on Fridays, as this slot has now moved to accommodate swimming on Tuesdays. Children should attend school in their normal school uniform.
Talk Homework
In RE this week, we have been looking at oral storytelling. Discuss the following:-
Reading Homework
All reading should now be logged on PageTIcker. Please continue to read daily across a range of genres (science-fiction, poetry, biographies etc) throughout the next half-term.
Spelling Homework
Your next spelling list has been stuck in your blue spelling book. If you forget your blue spelling book on Friday, you will need to get a spare copy of your spelling list from the tray in the classroom.
Maths Homework
The Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) will take place on Tuesday 9th June, so please keep practising your timetables as much as you can! Use Garage mode on Times Table Rockstars to try and turn your heatmap green.
Maths Challenge
If you already have a green heatmap and would like some additional Maths challenges, here are some questions which link to our learning this week:-
1) Sofia says, 'I have drawn a shape with one right angle and 3 acute angles.' Can the shape be a rectangle? Explain your reasoning.
2) Three children describe an angle:
Which child has an obtuse angle?
Which child has an acute angle?
Which child has a right angle?
Explain how you know.
3) I am thinking of a triangle.
What triangle am I?
4) Ella says, 'Every triangle has at least one acute angle.' Do you agree? Draw or describe examples to prove your answer.
5) A triangle is hidden behind a screen.
You are told:
What can you say for certain about the triangle?
What can you not say for certain?
