Can You Be the New Voice of Our School?

Enter this competition and help create the messages that callers hear when they ring our school.

Our school telephone system has three different messages, and we need your ideas to make them welcoming, clear and friendly.

If you choose to enter the competition, you will be given the opportunity to ‘audition’ your script and voice. The winners will then be recorded and become part of our school's telephone system. Pupils are encouraged to work in teams. For those who do not like public speaking, perhaps they take on the role of script writer?

Message 1: Welcome to Our School

This is the first message callers hear. It should:

• Welcome callers to our school

• Sound friendly and professional

• Explain the two options available:

  • Press 1 to report a child's absence

  • Press 2 to speak to the school office

Message 2: Reporting an Absence

This message is played when a caller chooses to report a child's absence.

It should:

• Ask for the child's name

• Ask for their year group or class

• Ask for the reason they are absent

• Be polite and easy to understand

Message 3: Contacting the School Office

This message is played when a caller chooses to speak to the school office but staff are unavailable.

It should:

• Explain the school office opening hours (8.30am to 3.30pm)

• Ask callers to ring back during those times

• Let callers know they can send a message through the school's website contact page

• Be friendly and helpful

How to Enter: Write a script for one, two or all three messages, hand it to your Class Teacher and let them know that you want to audition.

Auditions: Once scripts have been submitted, pupils will be invited to audition by reading their messages aloud.

We will be looking for voices that are:🎙️ Clear😊 Friendly🗣️ Confident⭐ Easy to understand

Small print - Permission from parents and carers of winners will be sought after auditions. In the event of lots of winning entries, random selection may be used. Image used in the Competition Poster is not an indication of what our new uniform will look like!
