Welcome
The Governors are a group of volunteers who give their time to support and challenge the school leadership team on issues of performance and effectiveness. The role of the governors is that of a ‘critical friend’ to the School.
We are also here to help parents. We are happy to hear any questions or issues directly from parents; some parents may find it easier to speak to us than the staff. Just email us on i.gadd@southascotvillageschool.org.uk , or speak to one of us on the playground.
The Governors support the school ethos of having an inclusive community and our aim is to make strategic decisions to prepare all pupils to meet challenge in their own lives by providing a caring, safe, stimulating learning environment.
We aim to
-
set challenging standards and objectives for the school
-
agree policies, performance targets and focus for accomplishing these objectives
-
look for evidence that these objectives are being achieved and asking direct questions of the school management team if we believe school is not meeting these targets.
We are also involved in determining how the budget is spent, staffing and discipline. The day to day running of the school is left to the highly capable and qualified staff.
Our decisions will always be made with the best interest of school and we will always be prepared to explain those decisions openly and honestly to the wider community.
If you would like to contact the Governors about any matter, please email main@southascotvillageschool.org.uk
